About Comfort Crossing

The decision to put a beloved member of the family to sleep is one of the most difficult decisions we can make in our lifetime. Our goal at Comfort Crossing is to make this stressful decision as comfortable and peaceful as possible for the pet and the owner. We provide euthanasia services in the comfort of your home, with a plan specific to your pet’s medical needs. Dr. Cameron began providing this service in 2023, with the addition of Dr. Kris in 2025.

About Dr. Cameron

My name is Dr. Courtney Cameron, and I have been a small animal veterinarian since 2018. I started my career in a multi-doctor, general practice veterinary clinic before working as a relief veterinarian, traveling throughout Northeast Ohio and Southwest Pennsylvania to veterinary clinics in need of extra help. I may have even met you and your furry family member at one of my travel clinics! Many of you have expressed the desire for an alternative to the traditional euthanasia experience, and you have inspired me to start providing this in-home service in 2023. I hope to leave you with a feeling of peace knowing we were able to help your pet cross the rainbow bridge in the most comfortable way possible.

When I am not working as an in-home euthanasia veterinarian, I enjoy reading, traveling and watching pretty much any sporting event I can. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Youngstown State University and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University. My husband, Bobby, and I have a goal of traveling to every Major League Baseball park together! We live in the Youngstown area and recently lost our 8-year-old cat, Ridley, who is pictured above. We miss her every day.

About Dr. Kris

Hello, I am Christine Simko Monfort, aka “Dr. Kris”. My husband, "Dr. Dan" and I recently moved to the Youngstown area after retiring from veterinary practice in Columbus. I was born and raised here, received my BS from YSU, and later in life my DVM from Ohio State. Dan and I met at Ohio State, where he received his DVM and PhD.

In Columbus we had a “mom and pop” type small animal practice where our clients were like family. Often we would make routine or sick home visits when it was difficult for an owner to bring their pet to us, or it was too stressful for the pet. When end of life decisions were made, we performed many euthanasias for our clients in their homes, which we felt was quite comforting for both client and pet.

After a long recovery from a troublesome knee surgery I began looking to return to Veterinary Medicine in some part-time way. Through a very good friend I learned of Comfort Crossing. Although dealing with euthanasia is the most difficult part of being a veterinarian, I believe it is a blessing for our pet family members to have their last moments be at home with their loved ones and peacefully leave this earth. We are grateful for the opportunity to join in Comfort Crossing’s mission to serve you and your pet in helping make a difficult time hopefully a little less difficult.

Currently we live in Canfield with our cats - Mae, Baci, Ella and Caterina, and our dog, Daisy. In our spare time, we both enjoy reading, cooking, and many outdoor activities. Dan is an accomplished woodworker and craftsman, who looks forward to yearly fly fishing in Montana, and keeps very busy. I had always been involved with dance and singing, and, at last, am finding some outlets here for those activities. I also love to swim, and the beach is my happy place!
